Richard Harvey
Richard Harvey Was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1929 of a Native American mother and a Russian father, and together they produced a devout nature lover who shares his love of the great outdoor, its wildlife and his Native American culture through his paint brushes and canvas. He loves the Blues music with true passion, he can name most of artists with their art works and history, may be batter then his won family. Richard Harvey is a self taught artist, and has been drawing and painting in many different mediums for over fifty years. Richard Harvey is an associate member in “Oil Painters of America”, and also was one of the original members of the “Northwest Artists” in the early 1970’s. Richard Harvey was accepted to exhibit in the “National Wildlife Show” of 1979, featuring 265 of the world finest wildlife artists. He also was awarded the First Runner Up in the State of Missouri’s First Duck Stamp competition. In 1983, a major show held at the Corpus Christi Art Museum, Richard’s painting “On the Run” won Best of show. The same painting also won Best of Show in the Wildlife category. Another painting “Jetty’s End” won Best of Show in the Seascape category. In the mid 1990’s, Richard became one of the original painting artist members of the “Academy of Western Artist”, the organization based in Gene Autry, Oklahoma. Richard Harvey is 77 yrs. Young now, but he still tries to paint everyday, besides taking care his animal orphanage. He also teaching a drawing and oil painting classes once a week, helping some local young artists.
