Why Abstracts Now?
After more than 50 years of painting Wildlife, Southwestern themes, Portraits and Still life, a thought popped into Richard's mind one day a couple of years ago, when he was starting a new painting, "Why not just let my colorful subconscious roll?" No rules. No structure. No restraints. The reactions to this painting were phenomenal. He never expected such a positive response.
Encouraged by the accolades from his first attempt, Richard pursued this method further wanting to see where it would lead him. During this period, he did a few small abstracts using only a pallet knife and discovered this was what he was looking for!
"I feel such freedom, joyful and excitement.......to express myself when I paint abstracts." he said, "Look out, here I come!"
